PROVISIONAL RANKINGS PRE-WORLD CHAMPS CUT OFF

Postby Witz78

See below the provisional rankings at the start of the next cut off where 2 ranking events the Welsh and German will be played before the cut off for the top 16 who make it to Sheffield.

Some comments on my list

1) Ive only based it on the top 32 current players as ultimately its the race for the top 16 thats really of interest
2) The PTC12 last 16 onwards not included yet
3) Welsh Open 2010 points deducted
4) Assumption made that Ronnie will remain top 16 so he gets 700 min pts for Wales and Walden gets 575
5) Rankings include min points for Germany where Qualifiers have already been played.

Any queries just ask.
First observation, RONNIE IS SCREWED UNLESS HE DOES SOMETHING SPECIAL IN THESE 2 RANKERS

Cheers for this Witz. Davis still stuck in 17th :dizzy:

BTW, I don't think Ronnie fans have much to worry about, a couple of QF's and he will be safe in the 16.

easier said than done. Ronnies only made 1 ranking quarter final in the last 10 rankers <ok>

bear in mind these are only 5000 points events

even 2 QFs would only get him an extra 3,600 more points

hes 2,150 behind 16th place Walden who will surely gain more points in the PTC12 with his favourable draw

so hell likely be 2,375 points behind Bingham in 16th so its a total uphill battle he faces as the likes of Bingo, Lee, Stevens etc ahead of him are seeds so will also earn good points if they win opening games.

The timing of the China Open is a bit confusing - according to the calendar seedings are decided after PTC12 even though the qualifiers don't start until after the next cut-off. I had assumed that China Open points would also be deducted during this period - but logically you are right to keep them in. Would make a difference as Carter in particular has a lot to defend.

I think Ronnie will be ok assuming that he makes an effort. He's struggled against the top players but still looks pretty dominant against those lower down. German Masters draw against Higginson could be easier, but then he'd have Carter or Perry in the 2nd round. Davis plays Higgins and Walden plays Gould so it's a bit tougher for them. As things stand they still have to get through Welsh Open qualifying as well.
