Higgins was caught with his fingers in the till. The crooked Jock even discussed ways he could keep the loot without paying tax on it. A true criminal.

infact id go as far as to say sonnys statement virtually condeming John to the fact he knew exactly what he was doing because they was only "exhibition events"

Sonny, sorry, but it was NOT about an exhibition event. The World Series were to evolve into the PTCs. The original plan was to have 4 PTCs in UK, and 8 in Europe, 4 organised by Pat Mooney as an evolution of the World series and 4 organised by Brandon Parker and Dragonstars. So, in fact, it was actual minor ranking events that they were discussing.
The NOWT journos were not thick, they were shrewd and there is no excuse that holds for what happened.
Being the best player of all time or not is completely irrelevant to the matter.

Yeah well, the best player thing was to
but for me the World Series was an exhibition event of low quality snooker of little or no meaning other than to put on a series of exhibitions in places snooker had never visited. It wasn't a ranking event and no frames were thrown, and the NOTW journos were completely thick but then I guess their targets were even thicker in not being able to spot that they were being set up. Egos got in the way of common sense and lessons have been learned.
The other thing worth pointing out is that the most vocal people against Higgins, the likes of your Seifer's and Witz's, were vocal against him before the sting for no other reason that he beat Ronnie a few times and told Witz to buck off in a nightclub. All this anti-Higgins for the right reasons is bull because both are openly fans of Quinten Hann. Go figure

Also it wasn't to test the water before the PTCs came into being because Rodney Walker was Chairman at the time of the World Series.

theres a world of difference in playing exho not caring if you win or loose to gaining financially from other people on purpose.
add the fact he was in a meeting with "the maffia" as apose to just them between players for the hell of it

Yes im a proud Hannfann hence i make such a big deal about Higgins getting SIXTEEN times less punishment for an identical 'offence'.
It amounts to discrimination towards non big-names, Aussies and those who like to live a little.
As for the WSOS / PTC merger, Monique was correct, that was due to happen last season under Hearn until Kievgate happened

yes but that's not the reason the World Series was set up or the reason for any of the events which did actually take place

Though, to be fair, when accused Hann did admit it and tell World Snooker to go buck themselves.

Higgins, in contrast, tried to wheedle his way out of it and invented some story about Russian gangsters. He should be thrown in jail.

Can't believe people still dwelling on this
Verdict......NOT GUILTY of match fixing
Verdict......GUILTY of bring the sport into disrepute and received a 6 month ban.
Disagree with it all you like but you should get over it.
Anyone who thinks Hann's case is comperable is c0mpletely ignorant of the facts of the cases.

Ok yeh ur rite there not comparable, on the basis that Higgins was a 'family man' but Hann was a jack the lad. Identical tabloid stings, only diff was Hann and Higgins reactions. If Hann had came back with a good answer instead of up your jacksie hed b on tour and prob the best Aussie on tour ahead of Jono, thats how highly i rated Hann

A good answer is right. Tribunal deemed Higgins answer acceptable/believable.
You draw a comparison between the two suggesting favorites were played instead of asking why Hann didn't bother to defend himself.
Hann arranged all his meetings, Higgins was dragged into his last minute. Based on that alone Hann showed intent, Higgins did not.
Hann had no possible good answer for his actions and he knew it.
As far as rating Hann highly, Hann always has and always will lack temprament. Hugely talented but not destined for a huge title haul because he was so erratic in the mental aspect of the game. Best Aussie on tour had he stayed.....not likely IMO but to each their own.

It shows this issue is still very much on the mind of some and I can't imagine that will change in the near future. It was a scandal and scandals always stay around for a long time.
