EBSA Championships 2011 is LIVE

Postby roy142857

Was browsing around and spotted John Higgins is due to make a guest appearance on the penultimate day - see http://www.snooker.bg/en/blackram.html

Disappointingly little at EBSA's own site - http://www.ebsa.tv/

:-(

... but details of who's in what group here - http://www.esnooker.pl/turnieje/2011/me ... l_2011.php

:-D

Well, I recognise a few names, but a lot I don't recognise ....

So - anyone with enough knowledge to say who the likely contenders are in each group ?

I first heard about it when Daniel Wells mentioned he was flying out there. I thought he was going on holiday until Matt told me there was a European event going on.

... and the final Tour place at stake!

Roy Stolk was the runner-up to Luca Brecel last year, other than that I'm not familiar with many of the continental players - Alex Borg, Kevin van Hove and Lasse Munstermann being the exceptions.

Looking at the British Isles players, would think Lee Walker and Bobby Cruickshanks could do well (knowing my ability to predict, that has now put a jinx on both ...)

Re: EBSA Championships 2011

ive looked at the Draw and participents i reckon Daniel Wells has a strong chance to win this event, so with him already on Tour if he wins this what will happen with the one remaining place on tour.

it might open up one more Wild Card for someone.

Re: EBSA Championships 2011

Postby Alex0paul

Would like to see Lasse Munstermann win it. I would prefer to see this being open to mainland Europe players like the Euro Playoff was as the UK based already have chances to get on through their NGBs.

If Wells wins it then the only fair thing to do is to give the runner up a place on the tour id say.

Id like to see the Yank Kopel get on tour. <ok>

yes id like Lasse to win it i just think regarding tour qualification it does need a overhaul though

look at the nominations

73 Dechawat Poomjaeng (Thailand) - IBSF World Champion
74 Sam Craigie (Eng) - IBSF World Under-21 Champion
75 TBC - EBSA Championship
76 Kacper Filipiak (Pol) - EBSA Under-21 Champion
77 Sam Baird - England
78 Joe Meara - Northern Ireland
79 David Hogan - Rep of Ire
80 Passakorn Suwannawat (Thailand) - Asia
81 Aditya Mehta (India) - Asia
82 Cao Yupeng (China) - Asia
83 Scott MacKenzie - Scotland
84 Daniel Wells - Wales

World Amataur and World under 21 great fair play but lets put thoes in red in to the Q School pool and see if they still good enough there are better players that are being handicapped for being english.

The thing is you have to win a lot more matches than Q School to get those spots. A player could fluke a spot through Q School but couldn't through either of the above. Gaining the English NGB nomination is far and away a better achievement than qualifying through Q School.

Re: EBSA Championships 2011

they play more matches but against weaker players on the whole throw in craig steadman, ben harrison,Allan Taylor,Syd wilson etc etc in to the irish route then see if they deserve a spot or not.

click the 'video' link against the match you wish to see and 'hey presto!'

(but no point clicking the link for a match that isn't playing - which is what I did first off <doh>

Darius Goran has been running these streamings and live scores for years now... glad someone noticed eventually <cool>

Glad I did Monique!

Do you know if it's the same 3 tables that are shown all the time? If so, I can work out from the schedule who is being shown when ... which would be good :-)

Re: EBSA Championships 2011 is LIVE

Postby Wildey

Kempe plays Wells this minute and its not on a streaming Table :-(

Re: EBSA Championships 2011 is LIVE

Postby roy142857

OK, working my way through the matches and assuming that as with the first lot of matches, the live feeds are from tables 2, 3 and 4. And assuming I've got the time difference right at two hours. And noting that they may move matches around if they have over-runs from previous sessions (this has happened with table 4 already) - so don't be TOO disappointed if the 'wrong' match appears! These are all the scheduled matches for the men's, plus select (ie British Isles players involved) for the Masters tournament (wonder why no British players in the Ladies tournament?):

I have to say that the live scoreboard completely knocks the socks off the WPBSA's effort. That is the way live scoring should be done.

Yes it's very good. Graphically not brilliant but the raw data is there and there is more than enough information. Has it been like this for several years then or something? (Based on Monique's comment)

Really? I'll let Wild find this topic and demonstrate how the swear filter works :redneck:

World Snooker worked brilliantly from a few hitches at the start then they upgraded software during the Q School to such a degree they totally screwed it up by Q School 3 finale lol

I'm still looking for the results, but there is a group standings page here :

http://www.esnooker.pl/turnieje/2011/me ... l_2011.php

... though seems to be in player order rather than in order of standing ...

I think Adam Duffy is the only 'home' player with a loss so far (to Ireland's Vincent Muldoon).

top 4 thru from each group i take it?

Am guessing so, tho' I don't KNOW so - Dariusz's website has a 'Top 32' page ready -

http://www.esnooker.pl/turnieje/2011/me ... d_2011.php

- although for all I know it could be top 3 in each group plus 8 players overall by number of frames won (I quite like that idea, but would doubt that they'd do it that way).

Presumably group winners seeded away from each other.

Rather like this round robin concept, means everyone gets seven games (well, in theory but looks like group D is a player short - Sasa Novak appears to not be there - wonder what will happen to matches that were supposed to be streamed with him involved - hopefully they'll show another game ...
