Yes. Judd was particularly rubbish yesterday. <doh>

Some are playing good, some aren't. Campbell has done rubbish, so has Dave Harold. And Burnett aint great shakes. But then, the first player through to round 2 is a qualifier. And Pagett aint played rubbish, he's just nervous on his first time at the venue. Also, you wouldn't define Ryan Day, Matthew Stevens, Stephen Lee or Martin Gould as rubbish players, no matter what happens in the matches.

Some are going to do well, some aren't.

Trump, Stevens & Gould are all very good players, with Trump being a potential winner. Certainly the likes of Campbell, Harold & Burnett infuriate me because they qualify ad nauseum, but more often than not do absolutely nothing when they reach the venues.

i agree some of these never been journeymen like campbell harold and burnett devalue the competition you just knew murphy carter and ding were going to roll them over without even having to be at their best

Yeah, but they qualify. That means they are beating people in regularly in qualifying competitions. This isn't a disgrace. If Burnett and Campbell were so rubbish, they wouldn't be qualifying for a lot of the tournaments. All we need to do to not have them qualify any more, is to have people who are able to beat them in qualifiers. You can't just tell Campbell to buck off, because he may not win his first round match.

there the mediocrity that Hearn refers to and in time they will get their commupence as the young guard rise up the rankings.

Next season once we have 2 seasons worth of PTC results incorporated into the mix it will start to truly seperate the cream from the rubbish

what he said <ok>

Why will the PTCs change anything, this year's finals had loads of journeymen... Holt, Higginson, Hamilton, Bingham, Greene, Jogia, Mark Davis... if these are the next best players in the world, they have every right to be at the WCs. No point in moaning either, the people they beat to get there must be even worse, so the matches would be even more one sided.

I think you're going to see some of the top players have more of a crack at the PTCs next year, Robertson certainly should to build up some confidence, his lax attitude to them this year summed up his season IMO. Ding will probably play a lot more of them, as will Higgins <ok>

Making the transition between playing well in qualifiers, and playing well in the venues is hard. And it becomes harded in the claustrophobic confines of The Crucible. It's all well and good calling them rubbish. But Harold reached a ranking final a couple of years ago, as did Burnett, remember.

I have no problem, as long as the people earned their place at The Crucible. They weren't awarded wildcards. They beat people to qualify. Including these young up-and-comers people keep telling us deserve to be there. If the journeymen are rubbish, and the youngster lose to them, then what's the point in watching them. Do you really want to watch people who can't even beat rubbish journeymen in qualifying?

No but they should tell Burnett to intercourse off for other reasons...
