what people think is the best day at the crucible ? sonny on another thread thinks it the semi final saturday but i personally think it is always the middle saturday especially the morning session to kick things off that day
when you look back traditionally theres been some classic results on that day and especially the morning session jimmy white beat stephen hendry in the decider in 1988 that was pure high quality drama think back in recent years the joe swail shock over mark williams tubby little fat bastard against ronnie in 2009 and not least old man davis against higgins last year sending the nation into a frenzy
so what people think is the favourite day or session at the crucible ? if someone puts up the day by day schedule on here by that i mean wild that his job we can look at potential exciting days and sessions at the crucible for example that middle saturday who is scheduled to conclude their match in the morning session ? somthing always seems to happen in that session what people think ?

I like the choice of the middle Saturday, especially if the Champion is knocked out, always seems to spark the tournament off.
I like the last Friday, I always get the day off and it's just a great feeling not being at school. Ronnie O'Sullivan performance in the 2008 semi-final that Friday was just one of those dream days...
Great topic

I like the opening weekend, but agree the middle Saturday has produced the goods many times.
The semi-finals first day (Thursday) always is special to me, cos its the 1 table set up and that brings something very exciting and magical.

The middle Saturday has had some crackers. The one which sticks out for me is Jimmy White v Stephen Hendry in 1988. But I'm sticking with semi-final Saturday. It is one of my favourite days of the year.

Second Saturday is where the tournament begins to hot up, and given that its 5 years since a defending champion reached the quarter-finals, it does become a sticking point for some champions in their defence. There's the feel that with the champion gone all of a sudden several more have the chance of doing well, - with Higgins out last year, all of a sudden there was a feeling that any one of the other seven could make it.
I mean Second Saturday syndrome has become synoptic recently, Williams has never reached the quarter-finals as defending champion, Higgins has fallen twice etc. The only thing is how different is the build up if we have the champion falling in the first hurdle, or as in 2000, both the top seed, and the 4th seed (top 2 in the same half) - not making it to the second round.

i love the first day when weeks of preparation and the crucible countdown ends and its action.
the Middle Saturday has put on some cracking matches but all in all the matches makes the day if a great match happens during that tournament on a certain day ill say that day.

I always like the opening weekend, but that's because I am usually there. I can travel up on the Friday, and miss no action, then there's the being in the hotel the night before and hoping to catch build up in the sport's results on the news.
The only other time I've ever been up is the final. And who can whack the two days final, hey? The year I went it was Ronnie vs Ali Carter. I spent £200 to watch a match that was a steaming pile of horse-cack, but the atmosphere was something else. I can only imagine what it's like when the match is close, and tense. Maybe this year.

If one thing has changed its the prices are getting steeper, I paid £60 for the last day in 2005, - and as a bonus that match went close, but £65 in 2009 for a session that went three frames, before a short exhibition seems alot

I have been to two afternoon sessions in the past two year's, one on the first Thursday and the other on the first Sunday, I liked both days but I wouldn't mind to see a quarter final, semi final or even a session on the final match. Im going on the opening morning this year to see Robertson v Trump, like a lot of you say preperations and the buzz around the crucible on the first Saturday is probably something special, but I will just have to wait and see.

First session Trump v Robertson. I bet you could sell that one for a few quid, but nothing worth how it'd be to actually be there on day 1 with the buzz that goes with it.

Usually go to the first round matches at the moment, people I go with are a bit fussy of who to watch and as the ticket system is different this year and my mate want's to go and see Robbo, he was surely going to open up on the first Saturday so we went for that and got tickets quite easily. Fingers crossed I can get some return tickets for Williams v Day in the afternoon, highly doubtful the way things are looking, but as long as I see Hairbear and Ryan147 again this year, my day won't be that bad.

I bet that costs fat dollars. I got talking to a guy in the bar once, after the games. And he told me that he knew somebody that, after factoring in hotel bills, travel and feeding himself for the two weeks spent about £4000 being there. And I think that was without the Witz style getting drunk and going to the casino the whole time. He just went, and he watched snooker for 17 days.
I'd love to do that one year, but I doubt I will.

They should bring back the season tickets in my opinion. It is not fair that some people can get tickets for the full 17 days at around £600-£700 whereas I would have to pay around £1500. I will definitely be writing to Barry Hearn about that.

Why do they keep them on, because those people get cushtie seats as well? What's the point in abolishing them, apart from to the people who already have them?
