PLtheRef wrote:Welcome to the inaugural World Snooker-Shootout prediction contest.
The format for this shall be different to the usual contest. You will predict the first round of the tournament.
Embolden the player you think will win each match. Correct forecasts are worth 1 point.
Afterwards name a list of ten players who you think will progress to the later stages, these players can be any of the 64 competitiors.
For each of those players eliminated in the 2nd round, you receive 2 points, the 3rd round 3 points. Quarter-finals 4 points, Semi-Finals 5 points, runner up 6 points, Champion 8 points.
Maximum Score possible is 78
Deadline is 5pm Friday 28th January (if the session on Friday is as predicted an evening session)

I see where youve got the 78 from now, you arent letting us predict scores for any of the games other than the 1st round.
Wouldnt it be better allowing us to predict games right through to add spice to things and make the most of the tournament?

how are you going to do that with
a) Random Draw after each Round
b) playing last 32 and possibly last 16 on the same day if you not online how is it going to be possible to predict the matches after each random draw.

as shown with the Premier League and Power Snooker the cream will rose to the top when the pressures on with the clock ticking and the crowd making noise

Yes but its difficult to see anyone being consistently lucky over the weekend - you have to be able to play still. - Even over 10 minutes.

I love prediction contests and am very glad that PL has taken the time to devise one, without it this event would have zero appeal to me.

Why are we so collectively bad at predictions? Following the laws of averages as many should have got more than 7 correct as got less than 7 correct.
"Nominations for Liang Wenbo in 10 Nominees will be awarded points based upon how far Tony Drago travels. Drago's first round match will not apply to the tournament.PLtheRef "
PL could Drago pickers have a point if he wins the first match he does play?
and as someone with Liang in my 10 noms I wouldn't mind taking the bad luck on the chin having zero for him

The 10 nominations will be retained, but seems fair enough, if Drago wins tonight then you get the point - if there's no objections.
top 8 to get PGC points as well.

The real interesting bit is now that 1 of the players has gone through his list of 10 already whereas another has 4 nominations left in the last 16.
