Re: Halo World Championship (Friday May 2nd) Semi Finals !!

Postby mantorok

I’m with LDS, the biggest disappointment is we were robbed of a decent match, Ronnie had a lot of chances and made some shocking errors.

Xintong now has a day off and I’m worried that’s also going to affect the quality of contest we get in the final.

Where did you see this?

That's a nice touch. Zhao knows snooker wouldn't be the sport it is today without Ronnie.

Every player and promoter out there should be thanking Ronnie tbh.

I was there. I also had a ticket for the final session. I had to comfort myself with watching Bond vs Griffiths from 50 yards away!

As you can see, Williams isnt doing that badly.

Yep.

Ronnie can do it of course. Just a question how much work he's willing to put. I believe I've heard him saying in the past he would like tonbe world champion in his 50s so that should motivate him for the next 2 years at least.

Setting his Saudi contract aside (and whatever it might require of him), if next season is like this one for Ronnie, I have a hard time seeing him coming back for the 2nd year of his 2-year plan...

His next season cant be as bad as this one because he's going to properly dedicate himself, at least that's what he said.

I still think the whole 2 year thing is based on his 2 year Saudi contract though. So its like he has to play but he has to play better. If Ronnie goes AWOL for months again then we know he won't be putting in the practice.

Isn’t it a 10 year Saudi contract? I could be wrong

Edit - I am wrong. It was a three year deal as of last summer. So yeah, you’re right.

A wee belated VERRRRY WELL DONE to Zhao!!!.

Zhao Xintong 17 - 7 Ronnie O'Sullivan

A verrry impressive victory!.

When Ronnie went 3 - 2 in front havin tailed 2 - 0,i thought,AHHH,FFS!,i felt throwin my tell oot the window!. >-( But when the session ended 4 - 4,i,m glad i didnae!. :-D

As i wrote earler here,i didnae see any more of this Match until i saw most of Session 3.But until then,i had glances at my Handy on the Snooker.Org scoring.

When Ron won the first 2 frames, after recieving a 9 frame demolition,to make it 6 - 12,i got a wee bit concerned,as Zhou missed a few.BUT!,he made up for it by winning 2 frames on the trot to go 14 - 6 in front.

When that happened i was pretty sure that Zhao would send The Ronster packing.

But,pretty sure aint absolutley sure!. So i was still a wee bit nervous. :-D

Ronnie then won another frame, which started a wee bit of concerninism again,BUT!,Zhao then won 3 on da spin to well n truly finish Ronnie off!. :phew:

When Zhou really did get over the finishing line,i was amazingly calmish, compared with how i usualy am.I stood up outta my Throne looked up at my ceiling, sporting 2 clenched fists and just said,"YESSSSS,VERY WELL DONE ZHAO!!".

There,s been many times when Ronnie lost in which i had a frenzy!.I,ve had Lots n lots o FISTS PUMPS!,C`MONNNNs,GET IN THERE! ROARS!!!,etc. <laugh> But this time i <only> celebrated mildley.

Zhao was extremely impressive.Did,nt even have problems keepin himself together to get over the line.

Thats sum of the best, highest scoring anyone,s done against Ronnie,it was high time anyway!.

Ronnie for the majority o the match did,nt play well,he missed numerous chances, many easy pots, other depts of his game were,nt really on scratch neither, far from being World Championesque,it has to be said.A lot o that was probably down to the pressure Zhao was puttin him under,he knew that if he missed, more likely than not,Zhao was gonna win the frame in mostly 1,2 visits!.

I like Ronnie,(sometimes). :-) But,i,m obviously very relieved, happy that he did,nt manage to win it for an 8th time.He had a decent chance to do so this year.

Well,i leave my wee comment/summary bout this match there. ;-)
