I understand that it would be an indictment of the sport. I understand that Zhao’s victory could be exactly the seismic shift that snooker needs. I understand that it’s potentially cemented a changing of the guard that’s been all too sluggish over the past five years. I understand that no 50 year-old should be the pinnacle of any sport.
But buck it, as a fan I want Williams to be a 4x world champion.
I just keep looking back at the semi final and thinking if this and that frame was different then Judd could have won. Whether he would have been Zhao in the final who knows. I'm dying for Judd to be a multiple world champion. He really should be on at least 3 by now. For me he is as good as Williams, Higgins and Selby but unfortunately he's behind them all on world championships by quite a long way. How many years will he have to win another 3? Will he even get 1 more?

He says all in this sentence :
"Under normal circumstances a player out of favour with their home federation wouldn't be greenlit to take part in WPBSA competitions."
Even in China, they don't wanna see Xintong play until July. The WPBSA did in their pants like always because of their interests with China concerning sponsors, tv broadcasts, tournaments etc.
The worst still to come. I can't wait to see what happens then.

I do, however, think he should start the new season on Zero points BUT, as World Champion he’d be automatically seeded No2 anyway for every tournament.
That’s my view anyway.
When James Cahill got to the Crucible as an amateur, I remember he was granted a tour card, was he granted one automatically for making the Crucible, or was it because of his money on the one year OoM? No issue with amateurs forcing their way up whichever ranking system with money that they’ve earned, if the pros don’t like it, they should stop these so-called amateurs from pinching their pockets! Think the kickback against Zhao in this instance might be influenced by the fact that he’s been a naughty boy…
