It would be very embarrassing for Selby to lose to another 49 year old just a few weeks after losing the final to one.

The fact Ronnie would potentially meat Selby in the Quarters might make his mind up and Pull out does he want to put himself through that on his comeback?

Few flukes helped and this Ding Curse must be a thing Selby had one chance after going 8-5 he really was cursed

I don't believe in curses, but this Ding thing really is incredible.
If it happens at The Crucible, or if he wins it, literally everybody who beat him in a season loses in the next round.
That would be phenomenal.

It WAS the Curse what won it.

i dont believe in them too but buck me Selby had Higgins well and Trully beat and then things began to happen maybe Selby started believing in it when the Fuke went in when Higgins was in Trouble i think it was frame 14 and again when Higgins almost fluked the red and it finished over the pocket but Snookered Selby

I wouldn't worry about that.
Even if Ronnie plays, he hasn't had any match practice. A tough first round qualifier would probably beat him, or Zhang Anda in a potencial 2nd round.
And of course Selby might be the main contender for the title but surprises also happen in the first rounds so we'll see.

You've got to give it to Higgins though.
He had a few years when he was losing a lot of finals from winning positions. His confidence was low, and a lot of people said he was finished.
That's two events he's won in 2025. He certainly didn't lose confidence from 8-5 down.

I was impressed how he kept his head up, there was a moment where he looked a little deflated but he seemed to snap out of it, best of all he didn't make any silly mistakes towards the end.

This comment is a complete and utter disgrace. I'd have thought a Selby fan would be a little more sensitive around issues of mental health.

At this level small margins make the difference but we can't deny how good Higgins played there. Not in a million years I was expecting Higgins to come back there but he rolled back the years.
Still don't expect him to win the World title though. To sustain that level over 17 days is a different challenge.

So would I, unless it’s ‘Granite’, in which case I would expect such pathetic provocative drivel

Granite and Wildey have let themselves down, although it's not like they would be falling from a particularly great height or anything.

I'm surprised Selby could play snooker at all yesterday, what with Granite's tongue running laps around the bloke's ringhole.
