She was, for a very long time. Then she met Liz Truss, and ... er... wasn't

Why does this tournament have the same top prize money as the Players Championship? Doesn't make sense.
£150k is low for the 2nd hardest tournament of the season. Even harder when you think the first round is also multi-session, which is ridiculous.
Home Nations events is £100k where everyone can enter.
A hard to get in tournament like this with 4 multi-session matches...this should have a far bigger prize money and ranking points.

Prize money (= ranking points) is completely up the spout in this sport which is an administrative shambles at present

On the 18th January 2023, Mark Williams played Ding Junhui for the first time since 2016.
Tonight will be the fifth time they've played since then.

I just found it interesting that they'd missed each other for so long, being that they are both sucessful players. Especially as it's gone the other way now, and they seem to play fairly often.

I guess that's the way it pans out sometimes though.

Willo was crap for a few years (didn't even make the Cruce in 2017) so probably had a few 1st round losses around that time

That's true. And Ding can be either brilliant or rubbish himself.
