he missed a few chances in frame 3 and then Xu fluked last red out of a snooker - from looking like 3-0 it was 2-1 and he never got over it - that's what no interval can do.

The most fragile player in snooker history lost 25 points on that situation, leading by miles in a frame that Vafaei eventually won.

I meant generally. These last couple of events have seen people dropping out left, right and centre.

My theory is about this that the tour is long and quite lopsided. There are big and small tournaments which lead to players managing their mental load. It's easy to pull out if you have enough financial freedom and many tournaments. The calendar is much more packed than say 20 years ago.
Snooker can be mentally draining sport and changes in mental health can lead to withdrawals. Players are not immune to the world around and constant negativity of social and regular media can be overwhelming as you can access everything just through your phone.
Also there could be some issues with WST, travelling etc.

True, although the players have been dealing with a busy calendar and the same stresses for years, and they’re definitely dropping out more over the last season or so than usual. Seems so, anyway. Maybe a statman can shed some light
