There's been surprisingly few big upsets so far with the vast majority of the last 48 being ranked appropriately at top 48 players.

And a lot of the non-48'ers are those who, appropriately are just outside the top 48, including the number 49, 50 and 51, 55 and 60.

The 4 highest ranked players to exit only really contains Bingham as it's highest profile exitee, and even he's been on such a bad run for the last 18 months that it's still not even that big of a surprise. Ryan Day, Gary Wilson and Chris Wakelin are all players that won't bat eyelids by exiting at any stage of a competition other than maybe at the last 128 (which doesn't happen with this format).

A lot of those ranked lower than 60 who are still in are the older players who tend to pop up with a good run every now and then, so are not particularly eyebrow raising, but good for long-time fans.

So the exciting 'fresh blood' for this round are:

Lukas Kleckers (78)
Zak Surety (77)
Ian Burns (103)
Craig Steadman (the only unranked qualifier remaining)

And the extent to which any of these are either exciting or fresh blood is somewhat contestable.

There will a minimum of at least 2 players reach the last 32 who are ranked outside the top 48.

Looking down the list for Judgement Day, only 2 matches have the potential to provide what one might describe as a 'major upset', and that would be Ding losing to Robbie Williams and Yuelong losing to Burns. But even then Robbie Williams beating Ding isn't outrageously unthinkable and Yuelong's reputation isn't really big enough to make many people take much notice if Burns' run continues.

There's some really good match-ups at this stage that should provide for some very entertaining snooker, such as Teppy v Walden and Yize V Noppon etc, but I don't think we'll have much to get overly excited about, results wise, until the last 32 stage.

Disciplinary action against the five players - world champion Luca Brecel, four-time world champion John Higgins and Mark Selby, Thepchaiya Un-Nooh and Ali Carter - was averted when the event in Macau, a special administrative region of China, was moved to December, with World Snooker Tour (WST) permission.

When in December is that happening now?
