Re: Huading Nylon World Open Last 64 and Heldover Last 128 !

Postby Juddernaut88

Judd misses the final black on 41 :( it was the shot on the blue that was the problem. He was on the wrong side on the pink and had to all round the table but Lam misses the tough black and Judd knocks in a beauty that looked very thin. Relief that Judd is level at 1-1.

Must be possible for wst to standard pocket profiles for all tournaments. We get this almost every overseas tournaments, makes players more comfortable and appear to play better.

It’s hardly just an overseas thing

Possibly not exclusive but can't think of any other sports where size of playing area can be different.

Try convincing Foulds, called big pockets from first match.

I think it goes a bit beyond simply using the same template. Other factors contribute to how generous a pocket is. Undercut of the rubber, fall of the slate, grade of cloth.

If a table fitter is asked to use the same template for two tables, but make the bags a bit easier on one table, it’s more than possible. Therefore it’s likely there will be inconsistencies from tournament to tournament, whether intentional or not.

I might be wrong but I seem to remember there was one particular year quite recently (2018/19 perhaps) when it was really bad at the Crucible. I don’t think Sheffield is immune from buckets, but I agree it doesn’t seem quite as bad as some tournaments.
