I'm not slagging it off. It's just not for me.
When you go to The Masters, you can tell it's aimed at the less than hardcore snooker fans. The proper fans are in the stands. The part-timers, who think they're spiffing because they've met Dennis Taylor or Cliff Thorburn like it.
Having said that, at the Ally Pally, I can kind of see the point to it a bit. The amenities at the Ally Pally aren't great, and there's not a lot of space or choice of what to it. Unless you go to The Phoenix Bar. So, getting a posh meal there is at least adds a choice. Also, the sofas you get to sit in as part of it look comfy. Though, they're in completely the wrong place to get a good view.
Personally, I don't find that proper sport watching. It's for people who care about the event as much as the snooker. Okay for some people, not for me.
