I’m sure he also had his development slowed somewhat by the pandemic as well considering he usually stays in Belgium between tournaments.

Yes, he won a couple of smaller events. Scottish Open etc.
But he looked every bit the superstar this tournament. But you wouldn't really have said that prior to this tournament, truth be told.
He doesn't practice with other pro's much, so I guess he needed time to develop his game and work on his matchplay. He did win the China Championship in 2017 where he beat Ronnie and Murphy.
he lost his cue shortly after that win. remember when he turned up at the masters with two cues.

Thats right he had cue problems. He’s got a new cue now. I think it’s a good one.

I’ve been saying this for ages

Luca’s been underrated for a long time.

Who is the best player in the world currently? Is it world number 1 Ronnie or is it the world champion Luca Brecel?

Luca followed by Selby. Ronnie had a poor season. Or at least since late November.

Well, fears that the match fixing hearings would detract and distract from the action proved ill founded.

Overall the player with the toughest lineups and circumstances won the final. Well deserved for Brecel.
Promising to see young players come forward.

For me, the big change in Brecel's game has been the quality of his safety play. He's always been able to pot balls off the lampshades, but until recently his safety play was truly atrocious. In this world's, he was very solid in that department.

I was telling everyone before I joined this forum that Luca Brecel would win a WC. Should have posted it on here.

Remarkably Ronnie still WN1, Brecelery is just 10k behind him though, so potentially could be WN1 if he gets off to a flyer next season

This is 8th time Ronnie has finished a season at WN1, one behind Hendry's record of 9.

Great stats. He'll need Number 8++ to do it next year!
