At least it stops people talking about that hammer with the orange powder.

It seems every 13 years we have a World Champion at The Crucible outside of the UK:
1997: Ken Doherty - Ireland
2010: Neil Robertson - Australia
2023: Luca Brecel - Belgium
2036: ?

Don't forget the classic 1984, where El-Stevio of Spain won 18-16.

Still feels crazy that he beat Selby in a 4 session bo35 final. If they play ever again over that distance you would always make Selby big favourite but this was the one time where Brecel was just on fire and he had to be to overpower Selby.

Following two contrasting epic semi-finals, a gripping final for the ages. Three matches that will live in the memory. A fitting end to a fantastic event. Luca Brecel, Mark Selby, Mark Allen and Si Jiahui take a bow.
How important those first round deciding frame wins for Luca Brecel and Si Jiahui turned out to be. How thin the line between retaining the opportunity to succeed and an early ticket home. Luca Brecel, close to being a sixth time first round loser, now world champion.
Wonderful tournament. Worthy champion.
