I still don't understand the thought process behind that.
I get why people would be underwhelmed ny the suggestion of Ding vs Day. But why the hell would you assume that I thought both players had automatically qualified, and would draw each other in the first round?
I get that I am thick compared to the rest of you. I do. But I know that two top-16ers wouldn't play in the first round of The Crucible.

Imagine both ding junhui and Ryan day qualified for the crucible but didn't draw each other in the first round and then one, the other, or both lost in a round before they were due to meet and so they didn't play each other.
