The Tour Championship is great but until they overhaul the ranking system, there's always the risk of getting a field like this. Can definitely see them changing the qualification criteria next year. If they made it the last calendar year since the TC, you'd have a very different field.

Best edition was by far the first one, and with proper increasing formats: Best of 17, Best of 19 and Best of 25, those were proper formats to that edition.
Imo this Tour Championship just sums up the whole season which has been very poor. Too many top players have just underperformed. Even Allen who has won 3 tournaments hasnt even played well and he didnt need to.
I fully agree that the first edition of the TC was by far the best.

I have no issues with the qualifying format. They shouldn't change it just because some top players failed to qualify.

That would give new/returning tour players a pretty significant disadvantage.

they would have to make in non ranking if they did that. unfortunately they are hamstrung by the crock of rubbish money list.
