Both struggling a bit, still expect Matthew to pot everything like he did in his twenties.

Those were the days. It’s still in him somewhere, he just rarely plays anywhere near it.

Shootout champions do normally struggle and sometimes drop off/nearly drop off the tour 2 yeas later.

i think holt, georgiou, and hull were the shootout champs who fell off in the two years; of who hull immediately returned.

Theppy almost dropped off. He was on a very poor run.

Only watched first 3 frames, hard going. Did it improve or did Matthew collapse?

Bit of both really. Both players made a lot of mistakes around frame 2 or so, then Luca found a bit of consistency.

Great matches Heathcote-Cao and Wakelin-Si. I had a good view of both tables.
Funny thing about the Tempodrom is that the worst view is of the main table, although there are large screens to see it. Unfortunately the screens and scoreboards have been a bit unreliable, like last year.

I always think tournaments feel less prestigious when there's no studio coverage.

It has an old school Eurosport feel.
Remember when none of them did?
