He looked good in his last match. Definitely favourite for the title as things stand. Lu Ning should be a tougher opponent, but I really don’t expect him to trouble Judd unless he plays out of his skin.

Even though he’s been (off and) on the circuit for umpteen years. Surprising.

Most of his career he’d have to win matches to get to Ronnie.

Which he doesn’t seem to be very good at.

It’s strange how a lot of people seem to be more optimistic about Vafaei’s future than Brecel’s, even though they’re the same age.

Higgins wraps things up with his 3rd century of the match. Question now is whether he continues that form. One criticism of him in recent years is that he often does that then goes missing in the next round. We’ll see.

Turned into an entertaining matache in the end - Luca made a fight of it but got going too late to ever look like a victor - John’s too cagey to lose from three up with four to play.

Good stuff, though <ok>

Vafaei seems to have a better all-round game, and to me he’s improving all the time. It feels like Brecel has been around for ages, and has never really played to his potential consistently. One ranker, with all that talent. Obviously there’s still time for that to change, but has Brecel ever made a concerted effort to try a new approach? He’s still got that long cue action and usual style/pace around the table, and still gets the odd fleeting streak of form, no more or less.
