I think people are assuming that Mark Allen will pull out, based on how he's been around Reanne previously. Getting her thrown out of the BBC studios because he can't practice when she's presenting, talking about needing a break from snooker based on the effect that the divorce is having on him etc....

Quite possibly. If we're talking about having husband vs wife (or ex-husband and wife). Purely because a lot of sports don't allow men vs women competing against each other.

Men and women compete in darts, but I don't think that happens very often. I know there are some minority interest ones like ten-pin bowling and pool where I've seen men and women compete against each other professionally. So it's possible that it's happened somewhere and we don't know about it. But unlikely, I'd say.

Didn't Anita Maflin represent Norway in one of the snooker World Cups? It's possible there were events in Norway in which they played each other. Certainly at a professional level it's highly unusual in sport.

Allen and Evans are not getting divorced, they were never married. I think they may have some dispute relating to their teenaged daughter.

Allen is currently getting divorced from kyla mcguigan.

Oh, well. Whatever.

He said he needed a break based on his personal circumstances.

An impressive 14 entrants already for the inaugural Revolving Cues season-long competition!

Many thanks to those who have entered already.

If you haven’t entered yet but want to, make sure you do so before the British Open to maximise your pointscoring potential! Simply choose a team of two players plus an optional wildward.

Remember, wildcards are not permitted once the British Open is underway. To view the tournament rules in full and to enter, see here: viewtopic.php?f=69&t=11319

The British Open is a massive letdown. It's a weird hybrid of the 2010 World Open and the Home Nations events, and at the end of the day, it's not as good as either.

Just as The Masters is the world's premier invitational tournament, this should have been the world's premier pro-am. But it's nothing of the sort.

The 2010 Grand Prix was beyond attrocious. One of the worst ranking events in snooker history. And that was purely because the length of the matches.

I am gutted World Snooker are trying to emulate that, I thought they'd learned their lesson with it.

It kind of goes without saying that what the likes of us lot look for in a tournament isn’t necessarily high up on the list of priorities for the suits.

But not to worry, we’ve got the Turkish Masters to look forward to at the end of September…

Yeah.

They've been advertising this as; "having most of the big names". This tends to be what the casuals look for.

I'm in a snooker group on Facebook, and all anybody is talking about is that Ronnie isn't there.
