Tough group to call a winner.
I'd love if Luca won it and reached the Semis.

Selby heavy favourite for me. Yes Kyren won the CL but it’s s joke format.

I was going to say not that tough to call a winner got Selby written all over this. Of course if Selby does get knocked out first game then yeah definitely tough call.

Maguire has had some poor results after winning the Tour Championship so hes the 4th fave for the group.

No Brecel is fourth favourite. He's worse than Maguire and has a tougher draw.

Selby is favourite for beating Luca.
I don't think he's the player that he was a couple of years ago, but Luca is Luca. He's never really lived up to his promising talent.
It wouldn't amaze me if Wilson beat Selby at the moment. That's closer to being 50/50 in a best of eleven than Selby vs Luca is in a best of seven. If Mags was to beat Selby, he'd have to play like he did in York. Or in the Tour Championship earlier this year. He's just not consistent enough to give me any real confidence in him.
I'm probably stating the obvious in all this.

Luca has beaten Selby at this event in fact, and in a Best of 11 back in 2017.

The clearance he had made in the last frame was quite something. Selby was about to make one of his special comebacks.
However since then Luca failed to fulfil his potential. Despite winning the CL this Summer.

Ding's dad on comms was asked where Brecel is from. He's not sure but seems to recall being told that he's not British.

I think you're onto something there. He seems to be about the right age for the bbc team.

There's a little bear
Like you've never seen before
Who's a lot of fun
Children everywhere
Grow to love him more and more
He's the number one
There's a millionstories to be told
Of the things that he's done!
And he's going to share them all with you
So come along....
Oh, Luca, Luca Brecel
Everyone sing his name
Luca, Luca Brecel
Everyone come and join in all of his games
