Don't think that's a warning, but a reminder. If it happened again he would indeed be warned.
However, if it was his opponent's shot, then yes the referee should warn the offending player.
eckhardt said it was an "official warning", and next time would be docked a frame. funny thing it sounded like the alarm clock, so he must have set it himself. maybe to remind him he had a match?
earlier in the week there was a player, think it was one of the young chinese, who had his phone by his chair and was told he had to leave it under the table switched off or take it out the arena. it didn't go off though. i thought they would just leave them in the dressing room.
