Revolving Cues 2023-2024

Postby Iranu

Welcome to the third annual Revolving Cues competition!

This is a season-long competition where YOU decide how much input you want to give it!

The Rules:
- Choose two players to win the next tournament. A finalist will gain you 1 point. A winner will gain you 3 points.

- You can change either or both of these two players up to once per each upcoming tournament finals (qualifiers not included)*. This can be done any time up to the start of the tournament. Your team will be fixed once the tournament begins.

- You are under NO OBLIGATION to swap either player at any time. If you so wish, you can keep the same duo for the entire season.

- OPTIONAL: Prior to the start of the European Masters you can select a Wildcard third player**. This player must be outside the top 16 as of the start of the European Masters and will remain part of your team for the duration of the aeason. If your wildcard wins a tournament, you gain 10 points instead of 3. If your wildcard doesn’t win any tournaments during the season you will lose 2 points at the end of the season.

- All tournaments, ranking and non-ranking, excluding those listed below, are eligible.

*Player Withdrawals: if a player withdraws from a tournament for health, injury or personal reasons, you may swap that player for another, even if you have already swapped both players for the next tournament. If any withdrawal reasons are unclear it will be down to my discretion whether I allow an extra swap. If a player withdraws from a tournament because he reached the last final and is tired, an extra swap will NOT be permitted.

**You can join Revolving Cues at any point throughout the season. However, if you join after the start of the European Masters you will not be able to select a Wildcard due to changes in the rankings, knowledge of form etc.

Scoring:
- Finalist = 1 point per tournament
- Winner = 3 points per tournament
- Wildcard wins a tournament = 10 points per tournament
- Wildcard wins no tournaments = -2 points at end of season (reduced from -3 last season)

Excluded Tournaments:
- Championship League (all iterations) and any additional league format
- Snooker Shoot Out and any additional single-frame tournaments that may arise
- World Mixed Doubles

Tiebreaker
There will be a tiebreaker for the winner of the competition if need be, come the end of the season. The tiebreak will be decided by the most instances of the highest scores per tournament e.g. 2x 4 point scores will beat 1x 4 point score. This will continue for 3 point and 1 point scores. If all this is equal, the highest number of frames across all tournament finals in which points are scored will be the winner e.g. 19, 17, 17 would beat 17, 17, 17.

The first eligible tournament will be The European Masters. I’ll confirm the deadline closer to the tournament when the schedule is released in full, depending on when the heldover matches are due to be completed/second round begins.

If we didn't have the crappy championship league for a whole month! the qualifiers could have been played during that time and this tournament could have started this week or next week instead of end of August!

You can register your participation now if you want to, without choosing any players.

rubbish. I didn't read it properly. I thought you had to play a Wildcard.

Lest I went with the same one everybody else is going with.

Since it’s still pre-season as far as RC goes, I’ll let you cancel the wildcard if you want to.

That's not like you to not read something properly.

I really shouldn’t have submitted my team a day early <doh>

Btw, Ronnie’s withdrawal was apparently on medical grounds… :john:

I heard Phil Studd say it on comms. Which I know means little <laugh> I’ll have a quick look.

And who the buck is daddy?!

Thanks Prop. Based on that, I will allow anybody who has chosen Ronnie O’Sullivan for the European Masters to swap him for somebody else IF they do so before 10am tomorrow morning UK time.

Snookerfan already guaranteed to get some points as he's guaranteed to have a player in the final.
