[*] Two points if your player wins the tournament, one if they reach the final.
[*] Double scoring in play for your Wildcard (four points when they win a tournament, two if they reach a final). You lose two points at the end of the season if your wildcard fails to score a point. (I think the 10 points for each win is excessive)
[*] You must pick a wildcard before the season starts or you can't have a wildcard at any point in the season (no change from current rules)
[*] Your two main selections have to be changed after each tournament, as a bigger nod to the competition's title.
This would bring in an element of tactical thinking. You might fancy Mark Selby in the minefield of the Scottish Open, but would it not be better to save him for the next tournament, the Masters, which has a much smaller field?
If you don't announce your two players, that part of your team sheet is blank going into that tournament. If you miss a competition, you still can't select the two players you picked most recently.
This would stop someone who doesn't pay attention to the tournament from fluking it ahead of someone who is playing it honestly. This is a very different competition to Think Pink, which just involves entering a team before the season starts and doing nothing else.
But it still doesn't make it as interactive as the World Championship, which you need to post loads of times during one tournament. Just once, before the tournament, that's it. It's a good half-way ground between the World Championship and Think Pink.
[*] Rather than billing it as the competition where you decide how much effort you put in, bill it as the toughest predictions contest of the year. What I like most about Revolving Cues is how hard it is to score points, it's the US Open of predictions contests. I think putting even more of a focus on that would help to establish it as part of the predictions triple crown with the World Championship and Think Pink. It arguably already is, I'm just saying I think this would add to that status.
FWIW I disagree with all of these suggestions.

So if you decided to go for Mark Selby and Judd Trump for example in the Shanghai Masters but didn't declare your players for the Saudi Masters then the previous players you picked do not stand.
It would also make it easier for the OP when updating the scoreboard not having to keep scrolling several pages back.
People frequently forget though, and I know you're around here pratrolling the beat like a rookie cop with something to prove and a badge that still squeaks, but for many of us RC is not exactly our number 1 priority.
Forgetting would sometimes be a happy accident.
Nah, buck that, take luck out of the equation.
I get we’re all busy, but if we can remember to post predictions however many times during the World Championship, this should be fine. And if we do forget, that’s our bucking problem.
The rule about not having to change or update teams is specifically to facilitate those who aren’t always on the forum.
As for updating the same team every tournament, if the runner has any wits about them (i.e. is more competent than me) their spreadsheet should have the up to fate teams after every tournament, so scrolling back through the pages shouldn’t be an issue. E.g. if someone hasn’t updated their team from the Scottish Open by the time the WC comes, that team should be on the spreadsheet still.

I think my other suggestions should be taken on board. I definitely think 10 is far too many points for picking a player outside of the top 16 to win at some point in the year, especially if they do it more than once. I know there's a big reward in Think Pink as well, but that's for players outside the world's top 96, and 10 points in this competition is miles more valuable than 25 in Think Pink. I had a part to play in coming up with the scoring system for this competition, but I've no problem saying that I think I got it wrong.
As for the suggestions outside of rule changes, I think they're no-brainers if you want to big this up. This IS the toughest predictions contest of the year, and a roll of honour would look very good too.
Unless I’m forgetting someone, the only wildcard to win a tournament is Luca. That’s out of, what, 45-50 tournaments.
Several non top 16 players have won tournaments, and several wildcards have been finalists. But actually choosing a wildcard that wins a tournament is extremely rare so I think the 10 points is fair. I also personally like that it’s a binary win/lose rather than getting points as a finalist. Differentiates it more from the normal teams.
These are only my thoughts and I’m not vetoing anything.

Yup. He and McManusfan have the deciding votes, but it's clear anyway that people want to stick with the status quo

best of luck with the competition, McManusfan, and I will enter this year
