Tuesday 26th of November ~ Sunday 8th of December at the York Barbican, England

One of the Most surprising quarter final line up in the U K Championship Ever with 54 year old Nigel Bond who has only played in the Quarter final of the UK Championship 4 times before. 1990 lost 9-7 to Steve Davis, 1993 lost 9-5 to John Parrott, 1995 lost 9-7 to Peter Ebdon and last time 2003 lost 9-3 to Jimmy White. This time its Mark Allen for him.

Also rolling back the years is Matthew Stevens who has reached the UK Quarter finals only once since he won the title back in 2003 that was in 2012 losing 6-4 to Mark Davis

Two players thats been in the wilderness of late Ding Junhui and Stephen Maguire has made it through to the Quarter Finals also.

So will we have a surprise winner or will John Higgins, Ding Junhui or Mark Allen prevail?

DRAW

Quarter Finals

Ding Junhui v Liang Wenbo Tied at 4-4
John Higgins v Yan Bingtao Higgins leads 3-1
--------------------------------------------------------------------
Stephen Maguire v Matthew Stevens Maguire leads 6-2
Mark Allen v Nigel Bond Allen leads 4-1

Think Ding might win, but could be very tight. Fancy Higgins to start playing better and win.

Allen should get past Bond, and I think Maguire will win too, the match with Selby must have taken everything out of Stevens.

Hes not scoring enough

Today he cant afford to make 40s or 50s and then get involved in safeties with Higgins. John will buck his head up has to win frames with one visit stuff.

John not played well but he still competes hard.

Depends how Higgins plays. If he gives Yan the chances he gave Burns, Yan will win handily. Although he hasn’t been scoring he has been taking chances gifted to him.

Didn’t see much of the Bingham match but by all accounts Higgins didn’t play much better there.
