Why on earth is Ding playing in this marmite? He can barely give a toss about normal snooker tournaments these days, and yet still turns up to stuff like this?

Why wouldn't he? It's a local tournament, and the prize money is good. It's perfect for Ding.

I think he only lives in Sheffield during the Snooker season. The only events he's played in so far have been in China, and it's not like the season has properly kicked off, so is there any reason for him to be in England right now?

Higgins is another dude who plays in a lot of those tiny tournaments even though he looked bored with Snooker last season and doesnt like to practice as much as he did in the past.

It's probably less than a three hour flight.

Not exactly local though is it?

Costcutter is local.

It's local when you're travelling between the UK and China regularly.

He doesn't need the money and the tournament isn't "local". Other than that it's "perfect" for Ding

It's an easy gig, basically. It makes sense for him to enter it.

That's more than you get for winning one of the Home Nations events.

Ridiculous.

Unfortunately money doesn't grow on trees. You can only offer the prize money that is relative to what the sponsors are willing to put in.

Why? They only have to pay 32 players.

So why is it then you think it's ridiculous that this has more prize money than the Home Nations events?

I believe that the format of the Home Nations warrants higher prize money for the winner than this.
