Betfred World Championship (Wed May 1st) Quarter-Finals !!!!

Postby Andre147

Saturday 20th of April~Monday 6th of May at The Crucible Theatre, Sheffield

Day of all decisions in all 4 Quarter-Finals, with 4 times World Champion John Higgins v 2010 champion Neil Robertson locked at 4 frames each, and Gary Wilson keeping his 2 frame lead against Ali Carter. David Gilbert won the second session again 5-3 and now leads 10-6, whilst Judd Trump had a great session and holds a huge lead of 7-1.

Will it be a day of comebacks for Kyren Wilson and Stephen Maguire, or will their opponents make the most of their advantage? And will the nerves get to Gary Wilson with a chance for the unique one table setup? Experience at this stage counts, so they need to be wary of that.

Watch to see who books the 4 Semi-Final spots for the one table setup.

DRAW

It's always this same bucking ridiculous schedulle every year, and they play back to back session. <doh>

It's a moot point as Trump will win with a session to spare anyway.

Forgive him, he suffers from mild retardation. I don't think he can help his sudden outbursts.

They need to change the schedule. I agree that in this day and age 17 days is too long. Some alterations need to be made.

O'Sullivan critical of Kyren Wilson on Eurosport. "He goes about break building the wrong way".

Theres a lot of players that goes about breakbuilding the wrong way. Over the years Ronnie has changed the way he goes about breakbuilding he used to be more agressive now he picks balls off both ways was succesfull for him.

Kyren doesent need anyone to tell him Breabuilding is his weak point but considering how high he is in the ranking now he could go to the next level if he sorts that out.

O'Sullivan is worried that Kyren might challenge him in big tournaments in years to come, particularly at The Crucible so he is just to get a psychological edge.

yes it's ridiculous

Trump v Maguire should play morning and end in the evening just like Higgins v Robbo.

Higgins been critical of this last few years, including this one.

Yes. This is normal practice. They want a match to finish in each session.

The scheduling has changed slightly over the years. They used to have the second Sunday morning off and play used to start at 3pm. Remember sessions used to be 10.30am; 3pm, and 7.30pm.

In 1984, Cliff Thorburn started his second round match on Sunday with Willie Thorne and then had to play back to back sessions at 3pm and 7.30pm on Monday. He won 13-11 just before midnight and then had to start his quarter final with Jimmy White at 10.30am the next morning.

In 1983 it was even worse. Tony Meo and Tony Knowles finished their second round matches in the morning and afternoon. Both matches were very close. Meo winning 13-11 and Knowles winning 13-12 and then had to start their quarter final against each other in the evening that same day! I cannot remember which one played the afternoon session but they started the quarter final within an hour of the second round match finishing! Knowles won the first session 7-1.

Those guys were tough in those days and the tables were a lot tougher to play on.

Old school snooker.

Kyren should break-build the way Ronnie did against Cahill. <doh>

That's when they had proper snooker players. Not the old fairies they have now. <ok>
