Turning that match around was quite a big task.
Thought he did well.
Foulds just made a good point that he didn’t get himself in once.
Zhao kept gifting him easy chances, and he often needed 2-3 per frame.

Massive task with all those one visit frames Zhao was winning.
OK - fair enough.
I thought he was beaten at 4-1 or was it 5-1, so from that perspective a 10-7 victory was good no?

Foulds and Dale don't dislike Selby I think, but they are saying the exact same things as we are.

If you were playing him next you wouldn't sleep well. I'd say hes a nightmare to play in a long match. He will beat Wilson and will fancy going deep in the tournament. Selby nobodies mug.
He will beat Wilson, but he is unlikely to go much further

So only one seed has gone out so far, which was Brecel. The only other qualifier I can see winning is Carter.

If you just saw those numbers and didn't see the match, yes. Very good.

Williams has a better chance of a 4th title than Selby.

When I said mystify I meant I do not understand the reasons for it. I am sure Foulds and Dale make sound points, but it does seem that there is a disproportionate amount of dislike for him on here.
I genuinely do not know as it must have been around long before I was here.

I don’t dislike Selby, BSP. But that doesn’t change the fact that he didn’t play all that well.

That was silly then. Zhao was picking up the pieces and once Selby improved slightly the session ended 5-3.

The way people are talking on here, you’d swear he was Champion-elect. Tonight was just as bad as last year against Perry, he just had a very lucky draw. People think his form is just going to magically reappear and stick around for the entire tournament. He’s been playing like this for two years now and getting steadily worse.

No I know that Iranu.
I don't think he played great and that is not what I am trying to say either. Just that there seems to be a lot of dislike for him and I honestly don't know why. Johnny B often says he is a boring grinder so that is a reason of sort but many other people obviously dislike him. I don't really mind it at all - just interested to know why it is as he does not come across as a hateful person.
Doesn't really matter I suppose

This is probably true, sadly.
He should have a bad season then.

It's not that good to watch. Oh another first round match that Selby struggles initially against a sub 64 ranked player. What drama

He should take the whole year off like in 2013.
