I don't think he will do anything significant, one more ranking title maybe.

he says he's semi-retired now. and has been skipping a lot of tournaments.

He must have other income then.

Wikipedia says almost exactly one million in prize money.

So about £50K per year pre-tax. He turned pro in ‘99 right?

That’s not exactly “retirement nest egg” money.

I guess not but only himself to blame. I think he could have had the same amount of success like Murphy had. I say Murphy because he's been his peer and they were rivals. And Maguire definitely looked as talented as Murphy did.

Definitely himself to blame. I have heard he still goes out on the snake hiss until the early hours on nights before matches.

He might be happy enough though as not all people are ambitious to be no1. He definitely could have been.

2mil should be enough, not to be super comfortable, but at least not to worry about things especially if you can do the odd exhibition, commentary, punditry, etc

Yea, but the Smurf has a much better cue action. Among the best in history I might say.

A few years ago I was talking to someone from Glasgow who sometimes sees Maguire about and said he never looked the type who would kill himself practicing.

The biggest underachiever in the modern game is Ronnie imo, but Maguire is in contention for second place.
