Monday 11th ~ Sunday 17th of February at The Motorpoint Arena, Cardiff

Ronnie O'Sullivan and Barry Hawkins joined Judd Trump and Shaun Murphy out of the tournament losing surprisingly to Alexander Ursenbacher and Michael Georgiou respectively.

But Mark Selby is safely through without any dramas unlike Neil Robertson who had to come back from 3-1 down to win against Paul Davison and Ding Junhui who was 2-0 down to Joe Perry.

Also made it through is defending champion John Higgins.

Can we have a surprise winner of the Ray Reardon trophy this week?

DRAW

Last 16
John Higgins v Jack Lisowski Higgins leads 3-1
Ding Junhui v Joe O'Connor Never played before
Robbie Williams v Stuart Bingham Bingham leads 4-0
Zhao Xintong v Alexander Ursenbacker Ursenbacher leads 1-0
----------------------------------------
Mark Selby v Hossein Vafaei Selby leads 1-0
Scott Donaldson v Ian Burns Burns leads 2-0

I think there will be wins for all of the following; Higgins, Ding, Bingham, Xintong, Selby, Burns, Robertson, Maflin.

Ding or John? I know who i would want in the trenches with me. A ferocious warrior with a never-say- die attitude or a rather meek and timid individual who may break out in tears or fall asleep with enemy fire encroaching at a speed of knots. I know the Wizzard would have my back.

John is the sort that would sell you down the river for a few shillings. Never trust a corrupt Scotsman.

Are you sure the Wizard wouldn't be getting drunk with the enemy?

John would have the craic and banter with anyone. With a few drinks on board we can all spin a yarn. Good ole John. I'd gladly have a pint with him. And toast his legacy of greatness. No ordinary cueist wins 4 times at Sheffield. Just ask Ding how hard it is to win once.

Gentle John, one of the good guys.

Selby vs Ding final would be ideal.

Ding would share his rations with you. John would steal yours.

I think I’ll skip this match, not at all interested in either of these muppets. I’ll be back for the Higgins match.

If the enemy has John paid, watch out.
