When was the last time he beat a top player in form?
2004 against O'Sullivan.

He's no match for the top players now. Sad to see.

Selby's been playing at his peak today no doubt. But on the other hand it can get only worse for him from now on. Peaking too early is never good.

Not a warm handshake from Mags. Looking very frustrated. But Selby was just too strong for him today.

Just got home, and saw Selby's scoreline. Yikes...We might be looking at a titanic Ronnie-Selby clash in the final...

Very impressive from Selbo, but don't get carried away. He scored great, but Mags also gifted him too many easy starters and didn't punish Selbo when he had the chance.
Also, peak ROS is still superior.

I disagree.
An out of form Selby ran ROS very close and only lost on a fluke just recently.
Top form Selby beats ROS in longer format especially.

It's all opinions anyway and I fully respect yours. I will backtrack on my 'Yes sir' and say that I don't think it is an answerable question or one worth arguing over.

This is my take, too. I think we call all (presumably?) agree that Peak Ronnie has the advantage in break-building, and that Peak Mark has the advantage in tactics/safety and in temperament.
It's my own opinion that Ronnie has closed the gap in the past few years in the tactics/safety and temperament dimensions more than Mark has closed the gap in break-building, and (therefore) that Ronnie has gained overall on Mark in recent years.
But it remains to be seen how well Ronnie would perform against Mark in a final, particularly in a ranking final (where Ronnie has never been Mark)...
