If any player from Snooker deserved it, then that would be MJW... remarkable what he done last season.
As great an achievment as beating Hendry's 18 TC events was, MJW should be the one who at least would get a nomination.
It would be ridiculous if the only snooker winner since Steve Davis got it in a year they didn’t win the World Championship.
I agree. G Thomas was a joke winner though and is no less credible than a man who has not won the most important title in snooker for half a decade. He is good as a commentator though.

When did we suddenly start caring about the divvy Sports Personality Of The Year?
You might as well complain that Ronnie didn't win Rear Of The Year for the amount of prestige it has.

Sports personality of the year is the pinnacle in snooker. If you win that it equates to winning 10 World Championships.

In slight defence of this SPOTY 'issue', they tend to give it to people who win in international sporting competition. There's only been three non-Brits to win The Crucible. (And one of them was Irish, so hardly a far flung place.)
If they gave the SPOTY every time a Brit won The Crucible, they'd never give it to anybody else.

Alex Higgins was runner up in 1982. That must be worth 3 World titles!

Snooker in the 80s was as popular as football, so its no surprise someone like Davis won that award.

Congrats to the Pistol in beating Smurph yesterday and to putting him now up to 5 ranking title wins.
I only watched the last frame on you tube.
Poor Smurph, what a miscue he had and what a FLUKE Allen got on the pink.
