I got moaned at for distracting Bingham. I took a sip of a drink. Made no noise, but the movement distracted him.

Well done to Bingham and tough luck to Davis, but it was a very close final from start to finish.
Onwards to the next tournament!

Bingham on Mark Davis "Well done on Mark for owning up on the foul (unlike Ronnie)."

Good try but it just wasn't to be for Mavis.

How would it be if Carter had won this tournament and sat next to Ronnie right now? Shoulder to shoulder.

Ha ha.
I think they would be fine and adult. That's the thing with Ronnie - he can be a really nice and magnanimous bloke but occasionally he can't suppress the dolt.

Apart from a couple of glimpses I missed the entire final until the last 5 shots.
Was it good?

Iranu, the first 3 or so frames were tactical and scrappy, but after that, the match was mostly quality, with the tactical frame here and there, but with mostly big breaks, even centuries for both (102 for Bingham and 136 for Davis, I think). And Davis had a golden chance to make it 6-4, but he called a foul on himself and from there, Bingham made it 5-5.

And the final result was amazingly the only time there was a difference of two frames between the two players! So it shows how close this final was. Not without errors (quite a few for each side) but it was better than expected considering what happened in the first three or so frames.

Davis played a very good match for someone who played his first ranking event final. Hopefully he'll get another chance very soon.
He's too good not to win a ranker at some stage. A lot better than King for instance (if both play at their best).

At the age of 46 he still has plenty of time to break his duck.

Found them.
They'd folded them and put them under my pillow.
