Wednesday 30th of January ~ Sunday 3rd of February at the Tempodrom in Berlin

Could 2019 be Judd Trump's year? we will have to wait and see.

Well Judd Trump is in Berlin trying to build on his Masters success and already won a Ranking Tournament this season in Northern Ireland beating Ronnie O'Sullivan in both finals.

Also in Germany is twice Champion and Current World Champion Mark Williams plus Former Champions Mark Selby and Ding Junhui.

Barry Hawkins, John Higgins, Jack Lisowski, Neil Robertson, Stuart Bingham, Shaun Murphy, Joe Perry and Kyren Wilson also making the trip over to the Tempodrom.

I'm not sure what it is about this particular tournament, but he doesn't seem to play in it that much. He withdrew in 2011, didn't enter in 2013, withdrew in 2018, and didn't enter in 2019. Overall he's only played in this event five out of the nine times since it started in 2011.

I'm not sure why he hasn't played in it recently. The last time he entered it was in 2017, so he's missed it two years in a row now.


Doesn't help that the qualifiers are held just before Christmas in Barnsley, I don't think he's the only who can't be fussed with that. If the top 16 got seeded through to the venue like before he would probably play in it.

Mark Allen doesn't like this event because he doesn't like the way the tables are set up. With the TV table in the centre and the four other tables encircling it.

Last season seemed to use up all of Ronnie's remaining tolerance for playing Numpties in Barnsley qualifiers...

Never been a fan of this for some reason. In the earlier rounds it looks like an advanced PTC tournament and I think the audience is like miles away from the TV table isn't it?
