5-4 is the best position to be in, says Wildey.

Didn't he lead 5-4 going into the second session of the match they played in 2012?

That Brecel-Walden match should be an interesting one. A 50/50 match imo. Brecel hasn't done anything after his first ranking event win. Walden will fancy this.

Brecel hasn't been the same since he lost his cue. I make Walden a clear 60/40 favourite in that one.

Is Luca Brecel the only player from mainland Europe to play at the Crucible?

Forgot about him. Also forgot about Robin Hull, if he counts.

From Jones' point of view he'd have prefered to be 6-3 down, after all his opponent would have had a false lead giving Jones more chances to win the match

Don't think Malta counts as mainland though

Didn't count him, as Malta is as mainland Europe as the UK is. They are both islands on the periphery.

There's also Paul Mifsud from Malta and Helgason from Iceland if you count them.
I know another who was born in mainland Europe... would make a good question for the never ending quiz.

I’d expect Ding to win comfortably after his performances there in the last few years

Listening to a Doctor Who audio, and in the background there's snooker commentary in which the comms say:
"Oooh and that's a bad miss."
"It's not good; you'd expect a player of his quality to knock that in easily."
"He probably knocks those in for fun in the practice hall. Just goes to show you what pressure these guys are under..."
About as insightful as most of the BBC comms so far

Obviously Carter is a miss Match in the Last 16 But last 3 players to beat Ronnie at the Crucible was Ding Junhui, Barry Hawkins and Stuart Bingham between them the head to head is Ronnie 35 - 9 Trump has beaten Ronnie 10 times that is more than Selby has.
all 3 were not obvious choices to have a chance of beating Ronnie over best of 25 but they did.
