Robertson is about ready to produce a big performance and could come in under the radar.

I can see him playing himself into destructive form over the fortnight.
It'll take an awesome performance from an opponent to derail The Rocket over these longer matches.
You serious? Or do I sense some irony there?
I'll only start believing he can win it if he reaches the Semis. Since 2013, he's yet to play destructive Snooker there. He reached the Final in 2014 but not the A game Ronnie.
No - I really think he'll click at the right time.
It's not been his best season, but even Ronnie having a 'poor' season is still 3rd in this season's earning list from snooker!
http://cuetracker.net/statistics/prize-money/won/seasonI feel he'll
get it right in Sheffield, and take the crown.

I have a sickening feeling it could be Higgins year
No logical reason just fees like it could happen.

I can see Robertson coming through the top half because for the first time in years he's under no pressure and not a favourite.
Trump or Hawkins from bottom half.

I will have some money on both players and also a small bet on a Robertson vs Hawkins final.

Agreed. I think he would've won in 2015 if he didn't get cocky and underestimate Bingham in the semi.

Technically, he was a potential winner every time he enters.
You lift the trophy on winning the title, not because it was possible you might.

I agree with you imo Higgins doesn't have the stamina to last the distance as shown v angles last year.

So the only reason Bingham beat Trump was because Trump underestimated him and nothing to do with how Bingham himself played in the match?

Bingham was the better player its as simple as that.
If we look at last year Judd boasted about his record v ding pre match and ding out played him.
If Trump wants to win he needs to be more consistent over the 17 days.

Two years later, people are still trying to belittle Stuart Bingham's title win.

I wouldn't be surprised if Higgins didn't win it this year.
But I guess, stranger things have happened. Seems unlikely. But, then, you can never tell...
Funny old game.

Double negative cancels out a positive; so you
wouldn't be surprised if he
didn't win it, which means you would if he did.
Or does it?
My head hurts.

A player who a few years back I thought would never be a proper contender for worlds but tbh i have slowly changed my mind on him.
He has steadily progressed reaching a big final last season and this season getting his first title.

I can't see him winning it this year, somehow. Maybe have a decent run, but don't see him even being in the final.
Wouldn't mind being wrong.

Like you with Robbo, I am not especially confident about O'Sullivan's chances. I still think he'll win one more world title but I don't think it will be this year.
Trump, on the other hand, has a terrific chance. Along with Selby, he is one of the most likely to win.

Selby Trump or Ding are the only 3 candidates for me. After Ding's mother passing it could be destiny. People may laugh but it happened to Taylor in 85 and Higgins in 11. Sometimes fate plays a part. Maybe I'm just being dilly

My main worry for Hawkins is that in the last 2 worlds after a big win the next day he lost the next match in session 1.
Has he learn his lesson ....
