Monday 12th ~ Sunday 18th of December at the Emirates Arena, Glasgow

Last 32 and Ronnie O'Sullivan plays Jimmy White for the second time in a home nations event after Ronnie beat Jimmy in Northern Ireland.

A Few surprises as Mark King was defeated 4-1 by Sean O'Sullivan and Chris Wakelin beat another Essex boy Ali Carter.

Neil Robertson, Judd Trump, Barry Hawkins, Stephen Maguire, Mark Allen and John Higgins still there so it promises to make it an exciting day with only 8 players surviving.

Who will be the 8 players?

Have you noticed that:

Liang Wenbo won the English Masters, but in the following Home Nations tournament, the Northern Ireland Open, lost in the 2nd round to Mark King. Who eventually won the trophy.

Now, Mark King lost in the 2nd Round of the third Home Series tournament to Sean O'Sullivan.

Does Sean have any chance? Discuss. <cool>

With his current form I wouldn't be so sure about that... he could face Fu next round, and then maybe MJW or Maguire, either of these 3 is more than capable of beating him and have a good record against him. Even Guodong beat him from 3-0 down very recently.

Ronnie v Jimmy should be a great spectacle, at least better than their last encounter. Jimmy is playing better now, wins over Perry and Day prove it. Hope he wins at least 2 frames today, even 3 if he starts well. No more than that of course.

Trump first player through to Last 16.

Should it be Kyren v Trump, great match that will be. Their last encounter the 2015 Shanghai Final, Kyren winnng it in the decider.

edit: they met again straight after in the CoC same year, Kyren also won, 4-2.

The same thing was said of Trump in the past.

Even if I admit that I also think he will be a great player he still has everything to prove. He has not yet found any regularity .

The future will tell us if he will be a great champion.

I can see O'Sullivan winning, but probably not Sean.

ROS has put a new tip on half an hour before the match. <doh>
He's been mishitting almost every shot in this match and has about 50% pot success. Tbh, he deserves to lose for such foolishness.

No idea!! I tuned in and they were like that.

12 fouls each so far in this frame.

Highest break so far - 11

I'd be pleased with those stats...

So would Ronnie, the rate he's declined.

If anyone can win this tournament making such a silly move, it's Ronnie.

He won the Masters in 2009 with a brand new cue. <ok>

Good break of 82 from Jimmy to level at 1-1

I think if Ronnie doesn't improve today Jimmy will fancy his chances of beating him.

I'm flying over from Dublin tomorrow and have an all day ticket to see every QF match. I can accept Ronnie losing his match this evening but he better not lose to Jimmy this afternoon and ruin a potential matchup with Higgins.

Ronnie fixing his tip <laugh>

He can beat a long past his best Jimmy White with that tip, but against the likes of Allen next (likely) he could be on the receiving end of a hammering. let's hope he starts getting confortable with it.

If he loses this evening he certainly won't meet Higgins. he faces either Allen or Hang in the Last 16 this evening.

Break of 114 from Ronnie to lead 2-1 :hatoff:

Ronnie's 30th century of the season. his breakbuilding this season has been as good as I've ever seen him.
