Although if you look at his history he's been whitewashed quite a few times and a fair few matches where he's only got one frame. Might not have a B game.

And the new generation (whatever that is) keeps on disappointing. They just keep on failing to break through and rightly so. That's exactly why the likes of Ronnie or Higgins will keep on winning tournaments even at their 50s. The last 5-6 years only Trump has established himself as a top player, depressing really.

Kyren is getting put to the sword. Mark King has played very, very well in this match.

The 'new generation' has potential, we've seen that with the likes of McGill and Kyren, but the consistency is just.. nowhere. Nowhere to be seen.

Incredible stuff from Mark King, no one could expect him leading 5-0 and, more of that, that it would be fully deserved scoreline.

Almost everybody can pot balls these days because the game has evolved through the years and will keep on evolving in the years to come like every other sport. But it's the mental strength that eventually separates the men from the boys. The game desperately needs a new Davis or Hendry more than it needs a new Ronnie. An excellent player, not necessarily naturally gifted, but mentally so strong that will keep the rest down. A player that everybody loves to hate, if you like. A player that simply despises losing. Trump is the only who could that but he has already lost so much time. This is the time for him to put his spiked shoe on the pedal and never let go. That's why I hate when most of these annoying commentators (Hendry excluded) always talk about future world champions or "he's young and has a lot of time ahead of him to achieve things" about people who are already in their mid 20s.

The best example is Mark Selby. It is the last player who came out of this temper. Not the greatest talent but of such tenacity. Furthermore it's so fine tactician and is capable of really well scoring .

Was Ronnie on the batter last night? He sounds like a man on the way out.

Selby not on the same level as Hendry or Davis.

This has been a good response from Kyren.

Wilson is obviously a good long potter but only if he hammers the shot, a bit like Trump used to be. His technique needs to improve vastly.

Poor performance from Blackbeard.

It looked really hard for Wilson to lose this frame, 40 up and with where the reds were.

Kyren played good snooker on two frames, but it was very late to turn the things around. One tactical frame was enough for King to clinch the victory.

What a story will be if Hamilton beats Hawkins, two players at their 40s and almost in decline, aiming for their first ranking title.
