Lines should have got his wish granted and drawn Ronnie... the way Ron played yesterday Lines would have been lucky to pot a ball <ok>

Of course Robbo is an easier draw, duh! espeially the way he's been of late...

Lines made a right cockerel of himself with that Ronnie is easier to beat than Ronnie talk.

He's obviously not been paying attention to Robertson's form lately.

A player of his quality.. wasn't expecting this kind of downfall from him since this title 12 months ago... even in the Riga Masters he wasn't too convincing...

GJ..

Where is GJ? He's not posted in ages.

Maybe embarrassed by Robbo's form? rofl

But the similarity ends there : 1-4 down to Matthew Stevens

Isn't Cahill actually related to Hendry not sure if blood related though so looks might just be a coincidence.

Yep, he's Uncle Stephen. His sister's lad, I believe.

He's the son of Hendry's (former) wife's sister. So there's no blood relation.

You're right. I stand corrected.

Worrying times for Robertson, sure, but writing him off is a bit premature. It's only a couple of years since the rites were being read for John Higgins on this forum with the general opinion being that he would probably struggle to win another major. Those pronouncements look foolish now. Similarly, Doug Mountjoy went through a period in the mid 80s when he tumbled down the rankings, struggled to win a meaningful match and looked finished. He re-dedicated himself to the game, got a new coach, and won back-to-back rankers in 88/89, continuing to be a consistent performer at the business end of tournaments into the 90s. Another example? Mark Williams, World / UK / Masters champion in 2002/03, fell away badly over the next few seasons, out of the top 32 and hinted at retirement, but has subsequently battled away and returned to the upper echelons of the sport, albeit struggling to quite get over the line and claim his first title in a while.

So, definitely things for Robertson to work on, but no need for him to panic just yet. After all, form is temporary, class IS permanent.

What it doesn't mean is that anybody who disagrees with you is a mug. That's just un-necessary, insulting, and a little pathetic.

GJ, on the other hand, seems like a gonna!

We forget how many good players there are these days.

When a player goes through a few months of bad results, we decide they've finished. We were saying the same thing about Higgins a couple of years back. And Robertson is a lot younger than Higgins.

Robbo will be back at the business end of tournaments again at some point.

Blimey! He sounds like he has totally 'gone'! Shame he feels like that at just 20 years-old.
The £11,625 earnings stated in the article is indeed his total in the World Rankings list, but the 'author' overlooked that that figure is his actually Two-yearly prize money!

Just worked out that only the top 72 players in the Rankings are earning more than they would get on minimum wage in the UK (£7.20 x 40 hours-a-week x 52 weeks x 2 years = just under £30k).
Obviously the players at the top earn vast sums of money, but further down, it's really tough!

I suspect that run in the UK a couple of years ago will have raised expectations in his own mind, and when you cannot replicate it no matter how hard you try that can do your head in probably.

Highlights what we were saying earlier in regard to Robertson's 'decline'.

Far too many good players these days, really tough to make it with the depth of competition.

Not disagreeing with your general point
But it's Living wage that's £7.20
Minimum wage for a 20yo is only £5.55

Yeah, they have to pay for everything themselves. Travel, food, accommodation etc.
