Still, there's time to recover, but a 4-1 deficit would prove very difficult.
His safety play has been the worst part of his game so far, breakbuilding not great either.
Safety will come with time. It's the break building that's worrying me so far.
its his first competitive match for about 5 months
Exactly!
Last season he too lost his opening match against Stuart Carrington didn't he? 1st or 2nd round, can't remember.
After that he won Masters and Welsh.

Liang is left with easy openers from Ronnie's sloppy safety play

They learned their lesson when one year they had Ronnie on the tournament programme and then he pulled out at the last minute
Since then no Ronnie picture is shown in China tournaments...

Yeah, it's been turgid stuff, tbh. I blame Liang for that. Some of his shot selection has been very negative.

I agree.
And as much as you practice safety play in practice, it's the professional matches that really up yur game.

SnookerFan = Happy
masterdoctorgenius = Grumpy (No! Ronnie's just missed a 10-foot pot down the rail - frame over!)
Cloud Strife = sleepy (he's slept through the first 4 ranking events!)
Hehehe.
You're dopey then

4-1 down Ronnie will need to really up his game in all departments if he's to win this match...

I agree. He has to employ whatever strategy that gives him the best chance of winning.

Liang has been poor. Ronnie only has to improve by 10% and he can easily get himself back into this match.

Can't say I share same opinion, with Ronnie being match rusty and all that,,
