cue grain filler

hi,

I bought a Peradon Carlisle cue about 3 months ago and I was wanting to add some grain filler as it didn't seem like a very full grain and I can feel the ridges in the cue. I was wondering what you thought about me doing this and if I was would I have to sand it down and do all of that?
