Changes to QSchool

Postby fridge46

Today WorldSnooker reported that they are changing the format and number of Tour spots available via QSchool this year.

Instead of the 4 semi finalists from 3 tournaments, giving a total of 12 spots to 2014/15-15/16 tour, only 2 tournaments will be played to give 8 players Tour places for the same period.

Subsequently, entry fee has been reduced from £1000 to £600.

The reason behind this is the increase in International demand for more Tour spots.

Exactly where these extra 4 spots are going has not been disclosed.

I am not sure whether this is good or bad. Some recent QSchool qualifiers have performed well recently, namely David Morris who has broken into the 64 on the money list after just 6 months. On the flip side, there are players who don't even enter tournaments (what a waste of £1000!!!!).

Same could be said for International qualifiers. Lyu Haotian, Noppon Saengkham and Li Hang have recorded some decent results this season, whilst some don't bother to show (mainly due to financial and travel/visa issues).

Possibility of their being an Asian Q School for 4 places instead maybe?
