Re: Latest Provisional Rankings Discussion Topic

Postby Roland

I've just ended up working out the provisionals for the post UK cut off as it stands now. Yes as a fanboy trying to work out where Selby is. He is in with a shout of the WN1 spot along with a few others come end of year if he gets a few performances under his belt. On the current list there is a gap of some nearly 5000 points between Higgins in 3 and Murphy in 4 just to get into perspective how different this list looks:

This is what I've worked out - December cut off as it stands now top ten:

1. John Higgins 42720
2. Ali Carter 41945
3. Neil Robertson 39785
4. Ding Junhui 37065
5. Mark Selby 36965
6. Ronnie O'Sullivan 35925
7. Mark Williams 35720
8. Stephen Maguire 33805
9. Shaun Murphy 33645
10. Graeme Dott 30450

ProSnookerBlog The result also guarantees Ebdon a place at the Masters. The top 16 is locked unless Fu loses in r1 of the EPTC2 and Stevens wins it

Stephen Lee could still get in too if he keeps winning this week so it isn't 'locked' yet

its pretty much locked for Ebdon but Marco Fu is still in danger this week.

but even then if mathew stevens wins in brugge he could get in there.

a nice lead for the world champion 5000 clear of carter but the bahrain points to drop off

i think carter has more to be taken off for uk and welsh open than robbo frm 2008/2009

as it stands after Points taken off next time

1 Robbo 45980
2 Carter 43100
3 Higgins 42720
4 Ronnie 40720

so even if carter wins in brugge Robbo will start the next period as provisional no 1.

Jimmy White has made it inside the Top 64 in time for Seeding cut off point without his win over Robbo Jimmy would have had a Extra Best of 17 match at the UK To play and jimmy not being the most fittest of players might have found that Extra match a bit Knackering.

Steve Davis has managed by the skin of his teeth to hold on to his top 32 place for the UK Championship but the fight To stay there continues next week in Sheffield in PTC5.

2 new Pros Alfie Burden on his Return and Anthony Mcgill has managed to get inside the top 64 in the World so they enter the UK at the 2nd Qualifying Round but Igor Figueiredo just misses out at no 67

and Martin Gould for the first time will be seeded inside the Top 32 which means he will only need to win 1 Qualifying match to make the venue.
