With the table the way it is, can't afford to throw points away. Those 6 points are massive the way the balls are.

Unforgivable. Nowhere near the cannon let alone missing the pink.

Carter will be concerned about the way he let Bingo back into the match, but he played well at the most important points and by winning he has a chance to improve in later rounds.

Ali will be getting annoyed with this. That's two snookers Bingham has fluked, one of them before snookers required albeit.

Tremendous performance from both to give such a quality finish. Especially to Ali in the final frame after all that had happened. Some of the shots he went for to build that early break and got were top drawer.

You know it's a proper day at the Crucible when in ends after 11. One day down, 16 to go.

As long as the likes of Bingham are the first time defending Champs it will continue forever. Let's see what'll happen with the likes of Trump (if he finally wins his first title).

sory for the mention GJ.
If it serves you consolation, he probably faced the toughest opponent a defending champ could hace faced.

Aaaaww, that's a shame. I feel bad for Bingham. Bit cruel to be defeated in the first round of the WC as a defending champion.

What a way to finish the first day of the Worlds! Great response from Carter in the last 2 frames. I wish he would play like this more against the other top players.

For the benefit of any first time competitiors, the numbers after a name represent the correct winners followed by the correct number of scores.
Naturally early days in the contest but we have a former champion amongst the leaders.
Kolompar predicted Stuart Bingham to make a maximum break hence why their score is -3.

Wasn't able to watch today's matches but seems all good so far 2/16 when the way I want them - and Newcastle are in a much better position to stay up!
When I saw livescores Ali was 8-5 up, what happened to end up with a decider from there?
Also, the crucible curse lives.

I agree, but it was an absolute awesome match and Ali really showed resolve and made some great shots to win. Of course only my opinion!:-)
