Didn't Ali Carter play Cao Yupeng at The Crucible final stages a couple of years back?

Today will be a tough day for Ding Junhui.
Ross Muir is a Grinder and Ding will have to mix it with him

Anyone else of the opinion that Alfie Burden has just woken up after 20 yrs and realised he can play the game? Has more talent than most and has wasted his career...

Ding cruising through this round as well, potential banana skin against Bond but not really a match worth worrying about.
Zhou Yuelong in a great position, would be great if he could get to the crucible.

Totally agree that Nigel Bond could be a 'banana skin' match for Ding - but, likewise I'd expect him to win through.
What could make Bond more difficult is if he's still decided to retire at the end of the season. It could be his last ever professional match after decades on Tour and he'd likely play with freedom and 'abandonment' with absolutely no expectation and nothing-to-lose...whereas Ding will be 'burdened' by the pressure of being so close to the Crucible.

I think Ding is only cruising because his opponent is so rubbish. I had the dubious pleasure of watching the last frame - his highest break was 25, running out of position all the time and still managed to win

Ding has handled the situation very well up to now but hes had a good draw losing just 5 frames to date.

Real test is obviously the crucible where he has always struggled, he's not going to get an easy first match like some of the top 16 either.
Dominic Dale 6-3 up on Oli Lines.
