I'm gonna try and introduce some doubt into proceedings by not telling you which you have right. If this is a terrible idea, I'll tell you which ones.

Juddernaut88

6 correct

BSP

4 correct.

Just catching up with these on my phone. Will have a proper punt at the photos later when on my laptop but can rise to the challenge of BG :

It’s Louis XIV playing an early form of billiards (no pockets, ‘shoving’ the balls through hoops, lacrosse-style) at the palace of Versailles.

Actually, have to confess that I had several books on the History of snooker that I pored over growing up, and this pic was in most, if not all of them, so is quite an easy spot for me.

I think he went out to young rookie Jimmy Blanc in the next round...

Here are my initial guesses (lower case if doubtful) :

AT - TONY MEO
AU - Dene O'Kane
AV - NEAL FOULDS
AW - DARREN MORGAN
AX - 1 & 2 i'll come back to (both look familiar but struggling for names), 3 is ALAN McMANUS
AY & AZ - both Judd Trump?
BA - Lee Walker
BB - ?
BC - Bob Chaperon (matches the initials!)
BD - PETER EBDON
BE - DENNIS TAYLOR (wouldn't have got Clive Everton, if it indeed is he)
BF - Kirk Stevens
BG - LOUIS XIV (!)
BH - ?
BI - Tony Drago
BJ - ?
BK - STEPHEN LEE
BL - Initially, I thought Eugene Hughes, but i'm sure he was right-handed, so unless it's a mirrored photo - I'm going to go with Dean Reynolds
BM - ?

I shall keep working on the others.

AT - TONY MEO - correct
AU - Dene O'Kane - correct! Not the highest quality photo, thought that would pose difficulties.
AV - NEAL FOULDS - correct
AW - DARREN MORGAN - correct
AX - 3 is ALAN McMANUS -correct. TBH, the boy far left I didn't know, and I think I've only seen his name a couple of times. If anyone knows it, great, but I can't really push for an answer when I don't know him. The boy in the middle, however, you shouold get.
AY - Judd Trump
AZ - Judd Trump - Nope. Ha, I kinda see it, but it isn't. Tricked a couple of people there.
BA - Lee Walker - correct
BB - ?
BC - Bob Chaperon - correct. Weirdly I think he was easier to identify about 5 years before this photo with scruffy facial hair.
Image

BD - PETER EBDON - correct
BE - DENNIS TAYLOR & Clive Everton - correct, BSP is spot on.
BF - Kirk Stevens - BSP right again. I didn't recognise him with the curly hair.
BG - LOUIS XIV - Correct!
BH - ?
BI - Tony Drago - correct
BJ - Stephen Hendry - Juddernaut is correct. Also found this other youngish pic, but thought it was too easy.
Image

BK - Stephen Lee - correct. Not Stephen Maguire.
BL - Dean Reynolds - correct
BM - ?

So that leaves:

AX - boy in the middle
AZ
BB
BH - boy on left
BM

BH - Neil Robertson?

Re: Tiny ones

BH - Anthony McGill

Re: Tiny ones

Either there's too much red tint in the photo, or his hair darkened in later life to light brown. It's not McGill.

AX : Is it Drew Henry in the middle? I think the boy on his right might be Nick Dyson?

AZ : Possibly Andrew Higginson?

Re: Tiny ones

Postby Empire State Human

AX - Drew Henry is correct. To stop further guesses, the other boy on the left is Scott McFarlane, who according to Cuetracker never turned pro. I told you to forget about him :)

AZ is not Higginson.

Still requiring answers:

AZ
BB
BH - boy on left
BM

Will give the answers tomorrow.

Final clues: in the four photos, there's one world champion, two ranking events winners, and a top 16 player who is still involved with the game behind the scenes.

BB looks like a 70's Mark Williams

Re: Tiny ones

AZ : Martin Clark?
BH : Ken Doherty?

Re: Tiny ones

Postby Empire State Human

Why is SnookerEd so good at this? He needs to give everyone else a 10 handicap start.

Clark and Doherty are both correct!

BB and BM left.

Admittedly BM is tough because the photo isn't very clear. Last clue is that he is on the current circuit.

I put it down to a mis-spent youth :emb:

Ok, answers for the missing 2 pics:

BB is Willie Thorne, pre-moustache!

BM is Dominic Dale. Pretty tough, but maybe the jet black hair was a clue.

I think I've exhausted all my autobiographies/snooker magazines, but I'll keep a look out for possible additions in future.
