Taken a while, but nice to see British Universities Champion Varun Madan (Sheffield Hallam and India) starting to show form with his victories over Marc Robertson and Oliver Brown.

Re: Q SCHOOL 3

By the end of tonight there will be 16 players with aspirations to turn professional. In less than a week the 4 players that's successful will be starting on a minimum 2 years on the Pro Tour. But with some top players taking a break from competitions its also beneficial to be top of the Q School Order of Merit then they too could be in the WUXI Draw not to mention the Australian Open draw few days later.

Re: Q SCHOOL 3

Postby Wildey

Section 1

Andrew Rogers/Gareth Green/Mitchell Travis/Sydney Wilson/David Morris/Alex Taubman/Gareth Allen/Antony Parsons

David Morris is definitely the most experience player in this section having played on the Main tour during 6 seasons. hes once reached the last 32 of a Ranking event the 2010 World Open where he was defeated 3-1 by Neil Robertson. his career high Ranking is 58 during the 2010/2011 season.

Section 2

Lee Spick/Sanderson Lam/Oliver Lines/Darren Cook/Phil O’Kane/Rahul Sachdev/Duane Jones/Nick Jennings

this is a interesting section of the draw i cant say anyone is a big favorite to get through but 2 players stand out Oliver Lines and Duane Jones.

Oliver Lines is by now a experience player on the Amateur scene having had a average 2011/2012 season playing PTC his second year in 2012/2013 was much better and hes now ready for the Main Tour.

Duane Jones has already had a taster of the main tour without being on the main tour Last season he played in 4 Main Ranking Tournaments because he was at the top of the Q School order of Merit he played in the Wuxi Classic, Australian Open, Welsh Open and The World Open.

WUXI Classic last 96 lost 5-4 to Tian Pengfei
Aussie Open Beat Michael Leslie 5-2 and Lost to Tony Drago 5-1
Welsh Open Beat Andy Hicks 4-3 and Lost to Neil Robertson 4-3
World Open Beat Li Yan 5-1 and Lost to Rod Lawler 5-3

the only former pro in this section is Adam Wicheard but the player to look out for is Chris Wakelin virtually no experience at this level prior to this week and hes proved himself more than capable to live with the best Amateurs.

you got experience Amateurs like Ryan Causton and Christopher Keogan there also my guess one of these 4 will win a Tour Card

Re: Q SCHOOL 3

Ben Harrison has got a tough Match with Fraser Patrick at 7 tonight.

Fraser has reached a Last 32 stage of a Full Ranking event without being a pro the German Masters this year he Beat Michael White 5-2 and Martin Gould 5-1 before Ali Carter beat him 5-3 in the Last 32

he did spend one season before on the Main Tour in 2007/2008 but without much success http://www.cuetracker.net/pages/players ... =2007/2008

Harrison v Patrick - have to agree, two players I'd thought would make it onto the Pro Tour, but at least one won't ...

Syd Wilson v Gareth Green a tough one to call tomorrow too, figure the whole of that section could go about any way right now ... suspect Morris and Allen will be the other players.

Darren Cook lost in Round 2 of the qualifying for this years Paul Hunter English Open 4 -3 to Oliver Lines – today must have been sweet revenge, reversing that scoreline at Q school!

He’s not had that good a year in the ‘big’ amateur competitions. He entered the English Ranking Series twice in the past season, only reaching the last 32 each time. He lost in the first round of the English Amateur Championship (4-0 to John Astley). He lost in the 1st qualifying round of the Malcolm Thorne Open (4 – 1 to Michael Wild). Last 16 losses to Gary Wilson and John Welsh meant he didn’t get support from English Snooker for Q School. But he's in with a shout of a Pro Tour place.

Just a reminder of the last 8 at the European Under 21 Chmpionship, James Cahill got on tour as the winner, the other 3 semi finalists playing to get on tomorrow, 2 of the losing quarter finalists already on, plus 1 of the last 16 losers (and another last 16 loser also in the hunt tomorrow)

Last 16 (selected)
Alexander Ursenbacher 4 - 0 Rhys Clark
James Cahill 4 - 3 Ross Muir

Quarter finals
Duane Jones 4 - 3 Lukas Kleckers
Ashley Carty 4 - 3 Alexander Ursenbacher
James Cahill 4 - 1 Elliot Slessor
Darryl Hill 4 - 3 Ryan Cronin

Semi finals
Ashley Carty 5 - 2 Duane Jones
James Cahill 5 - 1 Darryl Hill

Final
James Cahill 6 - 0 Ashley Carty

Re: Q SCHOOL 3

Bad luck to Darren Bond. He wanted to go out with the others last night but couldn't because he had a match while the rest went and got Grayed. Poor Ben was completely gutted although Phil Barnes was cheering him up. He's a top man, a Brit who moved to Germany much like Kurt and Norway.

Off to a meeting in a couple of mins, just noting wins for Green, Morris, Jones, Wicheard, Wakelin.

Good news for Lam and Surety as 2 of Green, Morris, Wicheard and Wakelin will make the Tour, moving them up the 'frames scored' pecking order - they could do with Jones either getting on or having a disaster to keep him behind I think.
