Looks like Ahmed Saif of Qatar edged Duane Jones, two good players there. Saif was Gary Wilson's last 32 'victim' on Wilson's way to the IBSF World Championship final last autumn.

anyone's that got any ambition has to cut it in snooker thats not disrespecting pool players but snooker is on another planet.

my guess Joe wants to prove himself.

Joe is a tremendous player and ton match player. He first played in 2008/2009 season in the Under 14 championship then went onto the Regional Junior Tour. Great little player with a great temperament and nice match play. Different game now though and I haven't seen him play snooker for a while. His pool play is exceptional.

Michael Georgiou spent one season on tour in 2008/2009 without winning a match and fell off immediately. he spent 4 seasons in total on the PIOS but has never played in the PTC or Q School before this year

Justin Astley has spent 3 seasons on the Main Tour 2002/2003 wining 3 Matches in 9 tournament hasent to add he fell right off then he returned for the season 2005/2006 where he won 2 Matches in 7 tournament yes you guessed it  and his last stint was in 2010/2011 where by that time the tour had grown substantially and in 21 tournaments he played in he won 9 matches but yet again he Fell off at the end of the season. This time though whoever comes through on Saturday will have a Minimum of 2 years and 44 tournaments to play in.

Ross Muir lost by a single frame to eventual winner James Cahill in the European Under 21s this year.

Dylan Craig lost at the same stage, he was beaten 4 - 0 by Alexander Ursenbacher in a game that wasn't as one sided as that sounds.

edit: this was the last 16 stage of the European Under 21s

A couple more players who made the English Under 21 Series finals going well – Adam Edge lost by a single frame to Elliot Slessor in the last 16, and at the same stage Ryan Clark lost 4 – 1 to Shane Castle.

Darrell Whitworth doing well here – he made the Last 16 of a couple of English Ranking Series events this year - best competition of the year was probably the Ranking Series Event 2 in January, wins over Adam Edge and Antony Parsons before losing by 1 frame to Rob James in the Last 16.

Zak Surety made the Southern Quarter Finals of the English Amateur Championship (lost 5 – 2 to David Gray).

Re: Q SCHOOL 2

Ben Harrison, Phil Barnes, Ryan Clark, Phil O’Kane, Dylan Mitchell, Darrell Whitworth, Adam Edge or Zak Surety will be receiving a 2 year Card.

these Group of players are very inexperienced at this level with Ben Harrison having most Experience of PTC and Q School having played in 30 PTC and all 3 years of Q School.

in his first PTC Series he beat experienced pro Barry Pinches 4-1 in PTC 5 2010 before losing 4-2 to Mark Allen in the last 64...in PTC 7 2011 he beat Luca Brecel and Yu DeLu 4-2 before Matthew Stevens beat him in the last 32 4-2.Ben's 2012/2013 PTC Series was not that great with more disappointments than Success but hes hoping to finish off with a place on the main tour.

Hasn't done much that I've seen results for this year, no-showed at both the Paul Hunter English Open and the Malcolm Thorne Open - perhaps unwell? He was semi-finalist in English Under 19s in 2010 (beaten by Kamran Ashraf - is Ashraf still around?). He reached the quarter finals of last years English Under 21 Championship (lost by a frame to Kyren Wilson) and was ranked 14th in the Under 21 Series in 2011/12 having played in 4 of the 6 events with one semi and two Last 16s to his name (the best 5 results counted). (Top 5 in that Series were Hammad Miah, Oliver Lines, Mitchell Mann, Mitchell Travis and Elliot Slessor).
.
Just seems to be on form, English Under 21 Championship saw him beat Steven Hallworth to qualify, then 3 wins to make the final against Hammad Miah (which will be played in June) against Callum Costello, Joe Roberts and Oliver Lines, across the 3 matches breaks of 64, 80, 59, 62 and 117
