this main competition is going to be really competitive for 1 card and 128 players going for it. many of whom did reasonably well in Q School and have some decent credentials. Robin Hull is there.
Be nice if Nußle did it, but I am going to predict Sharav.

Between the U18 and U21 tournament, Mertens hit 27 breaks of 50+ (3 centuries). He's also got another century in the open age tourament. These came in 17 short matches, many of them played over 4 days.
L Davies hit 17 (2 centuries) + 3 more in the U16 tournament. Again, he crammed a lot in in that time.
Nußle and Leclercq notched 13 in the U-21 alone - one more century for Leclercq. Nußle just missed on two centuries in the open age tournament, while Leclercq has added 3 more 50+ breaks in the 3 frames he has played thus far.
Interested to see what open age throws up but it feels like these 4 lads are head and shoulders above everything else in Europe at age group. Mertens won one (the important one), Davies another, but all of these are regularly making scores. I'm sure the matchplay will come if they can keep this up.
For comparison, Boiko made 8 across U-18 and U-21, and Liam Graham made 10.
Davies lost the U16 semi to eventual winner Artemis Zizins of Latvia. Not sure whether that was fatigue, the short-form favouring the first to get going, or whether he was genuinely beaten. Zizins made 2 40+ breaks in the tournament.

With young players there will always be some inconsistency and unexpected losses.
There are a few other decent young players, such as Paul Deaville. The standard was good, better than the Asia-Oceania Q School. Mertens was always going to qualify at some point, but it's a big step up now.

We are not related, but "Santos" is a common surname in Portugal.

Down to the last4
Florian Nußle v Ben Mertens
Umut Dikme v Andres Petrov
Repeat of the u21 final in the top match. Assume, if Mertens beats Nußle again, the winner of the second semi gets on tour, win or lose the final.
